Dr. Jake Werner's research explores how China's articulation within global modernity was conditioned by the nature of work, urban space, and political economy in Shanghai from the 1930s to the 1950s.
 
Dr. Jake Werner is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Chicago. In the fall, he will be a Harper fellow and collegiate assistant professor.
