Clara Emery (b. 1997; Seattle, WA) uses large format photography and experimental film to engage with narratives from folk tradition. Her work draws on tradition, memory, and site-specific lore. This includes stories and rituals from the Taiwanese folk religion community, records of dreams, and family memories from rural New Mexico and the Cascade mountains. Emery holds an MFA in Photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and a BFA in Photography from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD).
